Plan Now For Long Term Care

Is a strategy for long term health care a part of your financial plan? Minimal part-time home health care can cost $1,000 or more a month and nursing home care in the tri-state area averages $70,000 per year. Health insurance usually does not pay for a nursing home or health care at home. Medicare, Medicaid or even Medicare Supplement Insurance will rarely, if ever, completely cover an average nursing home stay. Without insurance to cover long term health care, much of the incurred expense will be out-of-pocket.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that people reaching 65 face at least a 40% lifetime risk of entering a nursing home and the stay for about 10% of them is 5 years or more. Even young people who have a serious accident or debilitating illness can need long term care.
