Bollinger Insurance Sports Insurance Products

Bollinger's Amateur Sports Program is available in all 50 states.

Liability Insurance
This policy provides coverage for claims of bodily injury, property damage and personal injury (i.e. defamation of character, libel, slander, false arrest), which arise out of your organization’s sponsored activities. Coverage may also be extended to include additional insureds, such as a field or facility owner. The policy covers court judgments and awards, as well as legal fees and court costs. Our standard program offers a $1 million limit per occurrence with a $3 million aggregate per location.

Participant Liability is an important feature of this Liability Plan. The policy provides coverage for lawsuits brought against your organization by players or participants who may have been injured during sponsored activities. Some other insurance carriers exclude this important coverage, or restrict it with such endorsements as the "Player vs. Player" exclusion. The Bollinger Insurance plan provides complete Participant Liability coverage, subject to the terms of the policy.

Note: Because the Liability Plan provides coverage for Participant’s Liability, it is an underwriting requirement that your organization have accident coverage in force for all participants with a minimum limit of $100,000. You may purchase this coverage through Bollinger Insurance’s Sports Program, or provide evidence of coverage through another acceptable insurance carrier.

Accident Medical Insurance:
This Plan covers all team members, participants, coaches and managers for accidental injuries that occur while practicing, competing or participating in games or sponsored activities. Coverage is also provided for group travel directly to and from sponsored activities. Medical Expense benefits of $100,000 or higher are available. The plan also provides a Dental Benefit starting at limits of $2,000 and higher; and an Accidental Death & Dismemberment Benefit of $5,000 (or higher). The policy is written on a Full Excess basis (where available), meaning that it pays after and above all other valid and collectible insurance or health care plans. However, if no other insurance exists, this policy would become primary, subject to the chosen deductible.

Umbrella Liability:
For those organizations who desire a higher limit of Liability than $1 million per occurrence, Umbrella Liability limits are available up to $10 million.

Directors’ & Officers’ Liability:
This policy provides coverage to the directors, officers and other members of the association for wrongful acts or errors and omissions that arise out of their work (or in their capacity) as a member of the association. There is no coverage under this policy for claims involving bodily injury or property damage, as those are covered by the general liability policy. The policy limit under this plan is $1,000,000 per claim with a $1,000,000 limit per policy year. There is a $1,000 deductible per claim.

Examples of claims under this coverage
Wrongful termination, failure to provide adequate insurance, discrimination, acts beyond the authority of the league, and wrongful suspension of players. Please note: this coverage is provided on a claims-made basis, as are all Directors’ and Officers’ (or any other type of Errors and Omissions) policies. This means that all claims under this policy must be reported to the insurance company within the policy term to be eligible for coverage.

Crime Insurance Plan:
This plan provides protection for your association against the financial loss caused by the dishonest disappearance of money, securities or negotiable instruments. This Crime Insurance Plan includes coverage for loss by theft or forgery by an officer or volunteer. The standard limit under this plan is $25,000 per loss, subject to a $250 deductible. Higher limits are available.

Examples of covered losses under this plan
Forgery or misappropriation of league funds; theft of moneys or securities collected from fund raising activities; or dishonest disappearance of moneys set aside for the purchase of uniforms and equipment.

Equipment Insurance Plan:
Under the Equipment Insurance Plan, the equipment owned by the association is protected on an "All-Risk" basis against loss, including fire and theft. Coverage applies to the full replacement cost value of the equipment, subject to the policy limits, while stored in a designated location. The designated building is the storage site of the equipment, which can be the home of a volunteer or coach. Coverage for equipment while in transit from or to games and practices is limited to $5,000. Basic policy limits are $15,000 per loss, with a $100 deductible per claim. Higher limits are available.

Standard exclusions under the policy include:
Mysterious disappearance, wear and tear, inventory shortage, loss of money & securities, and loss from other than the designated storage site. All equipment must be insured to the full replacement cost value.

Building and Property Coverage:
If you own a facility or property, or if you have a long term lease, which requires that you provide the insurance for the property, we can provide you with the proper Premises Liability and Building & Contents coverages.
